Wyndspirit

I am Wyndspirit because I have always loved the wind, which is a good thing, considering I live in North Dakota! I love reading, writing essays and fiction, cats, crafts, photography, and did I say reading? Oh, and I do a bit of web design on the side, mostly for my own entertainment. I started this 100 Books Club because at one time I belonged to a book club and one of the members decided to keep track of how many books she read in a year, to see if she could read 100 books in a year. That made me curious about how many books I read in a year, and I discovered a few other people were also curious about how much they (and others) read in a year, and the club evolved from that.

I read some of just about everything, but I prefer fantasy, gothic/suspense, and inspirational fiction. (I know... Quite the combination!) I grew up on gothics, but there are too many books and too little time for me to read all I want, and fantasy usually wins out. From the time I learned to read, I was fascinated by fairy tales and mythology, so I suppose it's a natural progression.

Some of my favorite fantasy authors are Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey, Barbara Hambly, Terry Goodkind, and Janny Wurts. Favorite inspirational author is Francine Rivers. I would love to read Roxanne Henke's books, but not enough to buy them, and she is a local, so her books are in high demand at the small-town library in my hometown, the only library I patronize these days. I've read the first, After Anne, but that's it. The others have always been out when I've been there. Other favorite authors... Barbara Michaels immediately comes to mind. Suspense, humor, the supernatural, and cats. Can't get much better than that! And I have to give a plug to my friend Felicia Mason, who currently writes for the Love Inspired inspirational romance line.

I live in a rundown mobile home with my four cats (three of them senior citizens) who are my babies. I am very close to my parents and three younger sisters, and I get out to my parents' farm as often as I can, usually at least once a week. I also spend a great deal of time enjoying the cats on the farm, and as much money as I can spare goes toward the uphill battle of trying to get the females spayed. I have a degree in computer technology, but nobody will hire me, so I am a professional in-home caregiver (no education required), and reading is my addiction and my escape.

You can find out more about me and my reading habits at the Bookwyrm Pages or go directly to my current book list.

I'm a university student who works as a secretary and in retail. I like to read a variety of books, including modern fiction, classics, sci-fi and fantasy, mysteries, essay collections, autobiographies, history, and literary criticism, but my all-time favorite genre is historical fantasy. My favorite authors are Judith Tarr and Umberto Eco, with James Joyce and Jane Austen deserving honorable mention. When choosing books to read, I usually look for an author I like or a good writing style. Recently, I've been very interested in novels in translation.

Besides reading, I enjoy linguistics, movies, comics, writing, history, theology, philosophy, bowling, food (cooking and eating!), cats, and video games. I must also confess a soft spot for television, although I don't watch very much of it anymore.

Fuschia Shock

I like to read mysteries as well as general fiction. I'm taking a Canadian literature course, so I'm reading a fair amount of Canadian fiction for that.

Some people read romances when they feel like reading something light; I read mysteries. I particularly like mysteries that are funny, such as the Stephanie Plus series by Janet Evanovich. I'm willing to read pretty much any kind of book, but if I don't like something, I'm not going to read more books that are similar to it.

Some of my favourite authors are John Irving, Nick Hornby, and J. D. Salinger. Heidi Priesnitz and Susan Haley are both great authors who live in my area. I read mysteries by authors such as Sara Paretsky, Janet Evanovich, Agatha Christie and Susan Wittig Albert.

I am very involved in music. I play flute in a community orchestra, oboe in my school band and I sing soprano in a local choir. I also take oboe and piano lessons.

I'm in grade twelve, so I graduate this year and then I'll be going off to university, where I hope to study music. I'm hoping to get a summer job, possibly at a day camp.

I live in a small town with my parents and my cat, who is 16. My brother goes to university about an hour and a half away from where I live.

I don't remember why I chose the name fuschiashock. It's a hair dye colour. Book list

What kind of books do you like to read?  -- I read pretty much anything.  Right now, I'm really into light fiction - something fast paced, entertaining and fun - because life is pretty challenging. Other times it could be anything from biographies, history, self-help, art, physics, sf, romances, humour, children's books, and you name it. I don't think there is any 'type' of books I don't like to read at some time.

Why do you like that kind of books?  -- Um... I'm a bit of a reading fanatic?

Who are your favorite authors?  -- I really can't answer this one. Today I might say Connie Willis, Terry Pratchett and Louis L'Amour, but
next week is will be Elie Wiesel or Don Levine or RL Stevenson.

What are some of your other interests besides reading?  -- My children, and I used to have a fiber farm, so I knit, spin, and generally love to play with fiber in all kinds of ways. I love to take photos. And I like people. Individual people - not people generally.

What do you do for a living?  -- I'm a useless burden on society.

Tell us a few interesting things about yourself.  -- ??? I'm bored with me. What would someone else find interesting?

Tell us a bit about your family/pets.  -- I'm married and have six children, five of whom live with me. They are girls and boys from 18 down to 5. I have at present two cats and a puppy. I'm not a big fan of puppies myself, but the children love her. We have no extended family nearby, or on whom we can rely, so we all are pretty close, relying on ourselves and each other. My cats recently flew over from the U.S. to join us in Israel. They didn't care for the trip, but we are all glad to be reunited.

Why did you choose this nickname?  -- It's a long and silly story. I'm an incest survivor as the phrase is. Kind of long and unwieldy. Incest sounds like insect and an insect is a bug - a euphemism is born. And my foster brother used to call me 'Her Ladyship.' I've had a few variations - Ladybeetle; Ladybug; Ladybugge. And the insect is very pretty and in stories is a good mother. So, it works for me.

If you have an online diary and/or booklist or book review site you'd like to promote, please give the links.  -- Nah. Don't do promotions here. Thanks, though.

What kind of books do you like to read? I read almost anything, because I just love reading and if a book is there when I have time, I'll pick it up. But I do go on binges with particular authors or genres, and there are  certain types of books that I really prefer not to read, such as trashy romances or mystery novels.

Why do you like that kind of books? Since my answer to number one was not clear-cut, this one is difficult. But I love to read, and I love all different types of books because I am most interested in the writing, and how the author creates.

Who are your favorite authors? Toni Morrison, Robert Heinlein, John Irving, Tom Robbins, Joseph Heller, Jane Austen, Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman...there are a lot.

What are some of your other interests besides reading? I love writing, which is why I pay so much attention to the writing of a book I read. I also love movies, good food, playing on the internet, camping, and mostly doing anything with my husband.

What do you do for a living? I work in a nursing home under a number of different titles...CNA, TMA, CSR clerk and currently staffing coordinator. I'm in school now for my RN, planning to graduate in December.

Tell us a few interesting things about yourself. I like the word monkey, as well as monkeys in any form, I am obsessed with interesting socks, I have an unhealthy attachment to Julia Roberts, I am currently working on teaching myself HTML code, and my favorite food is spaghetti.

Tell us a bit about your family/pets. My husband and I live in a condo in Little Canada which we share with a seriously deranged little grey tabby we call Bean. Well, his name is Bean (full name = Bean McCloud of the clan McCloud, due to the fact that the people who sold him to us also make and sell kilts) but what we actually call him shouldn't be printed. That's all in our house so far, but there will be more someday...

Why did you choose this nickname? This is the name of my diary, which I picked because of a Red Dwarf episode whichis one of my favorite episodes of all time. And since I know them all by heart, that's saying something!

If you have an online diary and/or booklist or book review site you'd like to promote, please give the links. My diary is at  http://mrflibble.diaryland.com so you can go there and read about the books I read and other mind-numbing details of my life.

I find that I read more mysteries than anything so I would have to say my favorite books are mysteries. I also like comedy and a comedic mystery is just about the best. I believe that I prefer mysteries because even though I’m a big chicken at heart, I like the suspense and trying to figure out “Who Done It?” for myself. Janet Evanovich is probably my favorite author. I have many other favorites but last year ran across some new authors I can't wait to read more of like Sarah Strohmeyer, Elizabeth Peters, Amanda Quick, Mary Jane Clark and Donna Andrews. I enjoy listening to books on tape in the car and at home when I’m cleaning, messing around on the computer or doing crafts. I’m not a big TV watcher and tend to fall asleep within 10 minutes of turning it on.

Besides books, I enjoy rubber stamping, putting together puzzles, spending time with my kids, doing crossword puzzles, cross stitching and Suduko puzzles. I’m basically a full time mom when I’m not working at my full-time job.
I'm the administrative assistant at a medical office and do bookkeeping, computer administration and input, document prep and making sure we are in compliance with the latest laws.

One of the things that usually shocks people about me is that I married the same man twice. We have 3 boys which I’m thankful for because I’m not sure what I would have done with a girl since I grew up with 4 brothers and no sisters. When I was 19 I helped capture a suspected murderer when I was working as a bank teller. I got a cat for my birthday in 2004 and she is appropriately named Diva.

I use the nickname NascarWidow because my hubby spends lots of time watching racing and working on a racecar. I currently have an online diary on DiaryLand, nascarwidow.diaryland.com.
Last year I attempted to post book reviews but when my health got wanky I couldn't keep up. For 2006 I'm going to just keep a list on my DiaryLand site set up just for my books: widobooklist.diaryland.com.

Peeperjen

What kind of books do you like to read? Pretty much anything except horror and romance. I mostly like classic literature, modern fiction (I've recently been reading a lot of "chick"-type books, but not romance), teen fiction and some fantasy.

Why do you like that kind of books? I have a degree in English (Literature and Composition). It's in my nature to love classic literature, and the fiction is just easy, light reading to keep me entertained. Fantasy I never really read before I took a fantasy class in college, and I thought the novels we read were great.

Who are your favorite authors? Shakespeare, of course, Charles Dickens, Emily Bronte (Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite novels), Francesca Lia Block, JK Rowling. There are so many, I couldn't possibly name them all.

What are some of your other interests besides reading? Disney (I work there, I better like it), traveling, going to see plays/musicals, spending time with my family and friends.

What do you do for a living?
I teach a Special Education class of first and second grade children who are Educable Mentally Handicapped, I work seasonally in Fantasyland at Walt Disney World, and I'm a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.

Tell us a few interesting things about yourself. I recently got married, and the wedding was a couple of hours before the last hurricane that hit Florida in 2004. Our outdoor ceremony was held inside the reception hall, and our 4-hour reception was about 30 minutes long because the city made us leave.

Tell us a bit about your family/pets. My husband Brian is currently designing and building a skateboard park in a sports complex in South Florida, and will manage it when it opens.  I have two shih-tsu/lhasa apso mix dogs, Toby and Bandit (brothers).

Why did you choose this nickname? It's my DiaryLand name... I chose it because my husband calls me Peeper and I call him Pooper (not even sure why anymore), and my name is Jennifer, so I became Peeperjen.

Ry Guy

I’m in elementary school and  I like to read, but math is my thing. I like to play a LOT. Anything that involves running, the more running the better. I like to read because I cuddle up with my mom on the couch and it is OUR time. Sometimes the twins, who are younger, come up with us, but they just listen and point a lot. I practice reading with my mom so when I see my dad I can blow his mind when he hears me read. Right now I like adventure and funny books the best.

Yrbkmom

What kind of books do you like to read? Science Fiction/Mystery

Why do you like that kind of books? I like Science Fiction because it is always possible that it could happen. I really like any stories that have to do with space travel. I love mysteries. I like to try to figure out who done it.

Who are your favorite authors? My major favorite is Mary Higgins Clark, some of her daughter Carol, and Lilian Jackson Braun

What are some of your other interests besides reading? Computers, Photography and Crafting business

What do you do for a living? Currently starting work as at a major retailer in photo department.

Tell us a few interesting things about yourself. Mom of 2, crafting maniac who loves to read and play with kids and dog!

Tell us a bit about your family/pets. 1 extremely spoiled Black Lab mix. She’s my 2nd daughter.

Why did you choose this nickname? I used to like making yearbooks for kids’ clubs. I started doing that back in '97 and the name has stuck

If you have an online diary and/or booklist or book review site you'd like to promote, please give the links. I don’t have a book review site yet, but am going to shortly so I’ll update it when you with it. As for an online diary – capitolady.dairyland.com same name as my business. Book review page
